Landscape Quilts: Design and Technique

Detail: Bridal Veil Meadows
My art school background enables me to simply explain basic principles of color, texture, scale and design at work in a range
of landscape quilts. Presenting a variety of approaches to landscape
used by quilters here and abroad, this slide show both informs and
teaches several principles of landscape design. Use of value, texture,
color and print scale in landscape images is clearly explained and
illustrated with slides. During the talk, I point out details and
techniques that are particularly effective or that can be adapted
to other kinds of images. Examples include antique quilts, folk
art quilts, abstracts, appliquéd designs, pictorial piecing
and other techniques useful for creating beautiful landscape quilts.
This talk has been very well received and praised as highly informative.
